Thomas Jullien takes us (almost) around the world in this sub 2-minute video stitched together from 852 Instagram shots. Stops include Paris, NYC and Sydney, among others. It’s incredibly well done and the amount of work involved in just finding these hundreds of similar photos is mind-boggling. Instagram is an incredible resource for all kinds of images. I wanted to create structure out of this chaos. The result is a crowd source short-film that shows the endless possibilities of social media.
Such a moving and flying video. And I love love love the song. Thomas! This is an amazing work. It made admire not only your technical expertise, but your creativity as well. Great minds make great videos with no budget. Incredible idea, impressive animation work, innovative stop motion technique.
It’s also fascinating (and a little bit sad) just how similar so many of our photos are when we travel – the angles, the composition, the lighting, etc. As Gizmodo notes
: “We’re all just frames in someone’s next movie.” Indeed.
